　　北宋神宗年间，王安石实施变法，苏轼因与王安石政见不合，身陷"乌台诗案"被贬黄州。黄州太守徐君猷是苏轼故交，担心苏轼写诗招祸，约法三章，其中一条"不准写诗填词"。苏轼寓居定惠院，与漁樵杂处，以此缓解苦闷。又因家大口阔，生计艰难，友人为他请得东门外废营田五十亩，耕种自食其力，因垦荒东坡，自号"东坡居士"。

　　徐君猷被苏轼精神感动，送来犁杖耕牛，助其垦荒。又迁苏轼居所于临皋亭。苏轼深夜由雪堂返临皋亭，因仆人沉睡，叫门不应，行至江边赋《临江仙》词，城中传言苏轼挂服江边遁去。黄州发生瘟疫，苏轼献出"圣散子"方，王朝云冒死赏药，救活黄州百姓无数。苏轼月夜泛舟赤壁，写下千古名篇《赤壁赋》。元丰七年，朝廷迁苏轼于河南临汝，苏轼携家人告别黄州父老，留下千古绝唱《赤壁怀古》一词。

　　In Xining Period (1068-1077) of Northern Song Dynasty, Wang Anshi implemented political reforms. Due to political disagreement with Wang Anshi, Su Shi was trapped in the "Wutai Poem Case" and was demoted to Huangzhou. Xu Junyou, the governor of Huangzhou, was an old friend of Su Shi. He was afraid that Su Shi would bring misfortune by writing poems, so he made a pact with him, one of which was "not allowed to write poems and fill in lyrics". Su Shi lived in Dinghuiyuan, where he lived with fishermen and woodcutters, to relieve depression. However, due to the difficulty of livelihood caused by the huge family, his old friends presented him 50 mu of agricultural wasteland outside Dongmen to cultivate and support himself. Because of reclaiming wasteland in DongPo, he named himself "DongPo Jushi".

　　Moved by Su Shi's spirit, Xu Junyou sent his plough and cattle to help him for reclaiming. In addition, he moved Su Shi to Lingao Pavilion. In the middle of the night, when Su Shi returned from Xuetang to Lingao Pavilion, because his servant was sleeping and didn't answer the call, he went to the riverside to write the poem The Riverine Fairy. In the city, it is said that Su Shi hung his robe along the riverside and fled by boat. When the plague broke out in Huangzhou, Su Shi gave "Shengsanzi” prescription and Wang Chaoyun risked his life to deliver the medicine to the people, saving countless people in Huangzhou. On a moonlit night, Su Shi went by boat on the Red Cliff and wrote the famous poem The Prose-poems on the Red Cliff. In the 7th year of Yuanfeng Period (1084) of Song Dynasty, the imperial court ordered Su Shi to move to Linru, Henan Province. Therefore, Su Shi took his family to bid farewell to the folks in Huangzhou, leaving behind his masterpiece Memories of the Past at Red Cliff.
