　　Taking the form of illustrations and pictures, this book briefly outlines the historical context of Wuhan's urban development from the early Shang Dynasty to 1949 from the perspective of urbanism, and introduces the transformation of its urban form, urban spatial layout and urban structure and function in different historical stages, especially the tortuous process of Wuhan's modernization after Hankou port opening, Zhang Zhidong's "Hubei New Deal" and the Revolution of 1911, showing the charm of this national historical and cultural city with a history of 3,500 years.
