宜昌市文化和旅游局为宜昌市政府工作部门，主管全市文化、旅游、体育、广电、文物工作。近年来，全市文化和旅游系统围绕建设世界级旅游目的地这一目标定位，加快推进文化和旅游深度融合，取得了良好成效。
宜昌历史悠久，巴楚文化源远流长，是世界历史文化名人屈原、古代民族团结使者王昭君的故里。宜昌是三峡工程、葛洲坝水利枢纽工程所在地，被誉为“世界水电之都”。荣膺“全国文明城市”“中国十大秀美之城”“中国诗歌之城”“中国钢琴之城”“中国优秀旅游城市”等等称号，拥有国家A级景区 63 处，其中 5A级景区 4 处，4A景区 23 处。
宜昌市文化和旅游局将用好世界级三峡、世界级工程、世界级文化，加快构建“全域宜游”“全时畅游”大旅游格局，全力打造世界级山水旅游、世界级文化旅游、世界级工程旅游、世界级康养旅游“四张名片”。
Yichang Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism is a department of Yichang municipal government, in charge of the city'sculture, tourism, sports, radio and television, cultural relics work. In recent years, aiming at developing into a world-class tourist destinations, cultural and tourism authorities of the city have accelerated the deep integration of culture and tourism, and achieved good results.
Yichang, with a long history, is steeped in the Ba-Chu culture. It is the hometown of Qu Yuan (a renowned historical and cultural figure)and Wang Zhaojun (an emissary for ancient national unity). Yichang is also the site of the Three Gorges Project and the Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project, which have earned it the title of the "world's hydropower city". It has been honored as "National Model City," "Oneof China's Top Ten Beautiful Cities," "City of Chinese Poetry," "City of Piano in China", and "Top Tourist City of China", among others.Furthermore, it is home to 63 national A-level scenic areas, including 4 5A-level scenic areas and 23 4A-level scenic areas.
Yichang Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism will make good use of the world-class Three Gorges Project, world-class engineering projects, and world-class culture to speed up the construction of a "all-for-one tour" and "full-time tour" grand tourism pattern, and create world-class landscape tourism, world-class cultural tourism, world-class engineering tourism, and world-class health care four business cards as “4 business cards”.
