武汉出版集团有限公司是经国家新闻出版广电总局，武汉市委、市政府批准成立的以图书出版发行为主业的文化企业集团。集团由市人民政府授权市国有文化资产监督管理领导小组办公室履行出资人职责、市委宣传部主管，是国有独资文化企业。集团现拥有全资和参控股企业 23 家，其中二级公司 5 家，武汉出版社有限公司、武汉市新华书店有限公司为集团核心全资子公司。
集团秉持“为时代发声，为城市立传，为读者增福址”的出版理念，截至目前编辑出版了各类图书 1 万余种，累计发行 5 亿余册，内容涉及政治、经济、历史、科技、文化、古籍整理等诸多领域。集团迄今已荣获各类图书奖 400余项，其中，国家级和全国性图书奖 30 余项，有 30 余套图书分别被列入国家“八五”至“十四五”重点图书出版规划和“三个一百”原创出版工程，多套图书获国家出版基金和湖北省公益学术著作出版专项资金资助，多种图书和项目入选国家新闻出版改革发展项目库，在读者中和学术界产生了较为广泛的影响。
Wuhan Publishing Group Co., Ltd. is a cultural enterprise group with book publishing as its main business, which was established with the approval of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China, Wuhan Municipal Party Committee and Wuhan Municipal Government. The Group is a wholly state-owned cultural enterprise, for which Wuhan Municipal People's Government authorizes Office of Municipal State-owned Cultural Assets Supervision and Administration Leading Group to perform the contributor’s responsibilities and Publicity Department of Municipal Party Committee to be responsible. Now, the Group has 23 whollyowned and shareholding and holding enterprises, including 5 secondary companies. Now, Wuhan Publishing House Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Xinhua Bookstore Co., Ltd. are the core wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Group.
Adhering to the publishing philosophy concept of "voicing for the times, creating a biography for the city, and increasing the welfare of readers”, the Group has edited and published over 10,000 books of all kinds and has issued more than 500,000,000 volumes in total till now, with the content involving many fields such as politics, economy, history, science and education, culture and collation of ancient book. So far, the Group has won more than 400 book awards of all kinds, including more than 30 national-level and nationwide book awards. More than 30 sets of its books have been included in the national "8th Five-Year-Plan" to "14th Five-Year-Plan" key book publishing plans and the "three one-hundred" original publishing projects respectively. multiple sets of books have been funded by the National Publishing Fund and the Hubei Provincial Special Fund for Publishing of Public-benefit Academic Works, and multiple kinds of books and projects have been included in the National Press and Publishing Reform and Development Project Library, which has generated the relatively extensive influence on the readers and the academic circles.
